    Smile Indicators in a cystoscopy?

Hello - A family member was just scheduled for a cystoscopy after a CT scan showed a "shadow" on his bladder.

My questions to this message board are: 1) is this a normal follow up procedure?, 2) what questions should we be asking the doctor?, 3) what other indicators would point to the presence of a malignancy?, 4) are there other outcomes of a shadow on the bladder besides tumors?

    Thank you.

Hi. I guess it is a normal follow up after the cat scan. But, did they mention kidney stones? The cystoscopy looks into the bladder. I would assume the Dr. will take a biopsy from the bladder. I think blood in the urine is an indication of bladder cancer. My experience is with Kidney Stones. When I had the cat scan they said they were kidney stones.

I would ask the Dr. why he needs to do the Cystoscopy?
Ask what the Dr. thinks the shadow could be?
Ask him what the shadow could be?

They are the same questions you asked here. I'm sorry I could not answer. Hopefully just kidney stones and nothing worse.

Puss pockets are also a possibility in the bladder. I've had the scope done a couple of times and thought it was extremely painful. Now pain killers are given prior to be abused by the scope.
