    Uti symptoms post treatment

    HELLO -

I hope everyone is at least okay if not better today. I'm new here. I had a UTI ( confirmed at urgent care clinic ) in mid July. Prescribed Bactrim for 3 days which I've used before for UTI and fully expected that to work. I didn't get any relief and re-tested: negative. Since then I've had 5 more negative urinalysis and several trips to : urologist, urgent care, chiropractor and gynecologist. No infection, bloodwork and cultures for STI all negative. CT scan yesterday read as. "Unremarkable." While I'm glad about that, I'm left with no answers.

My primary symptom for many weeks was frequency and urgency ( horrible ) but I was on summer vacation and could run to the bathroom as necessary ( or unnecessary as it seems ). Very frustrated. Urgent care NP did say she sees a uretrhocele bulge but gnycecologist didn't see that. Seems that could be the cause but I just don't know.

Now all the doctors are passing me around to others. I'm getting scared I won't find relief. I've tried AZO which helps a bit but can't stay on that more than 2 days, I take a probiotic daily with yogurt. I have an asthma inhaler ( corticosteroid ). But that's it. I am terrified of antibiotics as I had c. diff last November to March and have to be vigilant about avoiding antibiotics ( tho the Bactrim is lower on list of offending antibiotics ).

Hoping to find similar stories / help. Standing seems better than sitting /. lying down. Some days are almost symptom free and other days are difficult.

Following up with urologist when she is back from her vacation and seeing acupuncturist Thursday.

    Re: Uti symptoms post treatment

UTIs can be torture and hell: When I was young I had constant urinary symptoms but negative for infection: this went on for many years: I finally went to the University of Michigan Urology Department where testing revealed i had interstitial cystitis. You may bring this up when you see the urologist. You can google interstitial cystitis to understand it. it is not an infection but it can cause some similar symptoms. I have no idea why you would see a chiropractor for urinary symptoms: i can assure you that won't help. I hope you get some relief.

Re: Uti symptoms post treatment could be IC...having a bladder scope can help diagnose that. If you haven't had one, push for it.

It's all a matter of perspective!

Quincy is right - definitely push for a cystoscopy UNDER ANESTHESIA--
that is the key. that is how my IC was diagnosed when I was 32 years old.
