    Post-graft scabbing

I had a buccal mucosa graft about eight months ago to treat a urethral stricture. Everything seems fine in terms of keeping the line open. But a small bit of the graft is sticking out of the meatus. It scabs over repeatedly. The scab will build up for maybe 5 days, and then come off in the shower, then start building again. It gets a little red and itchy sometimes, but mostly it's just gross.

My surgeon is stumped. He thinks the spot might just be building an outer layer very slowly.

Does anyone have any familiarity with this? I'm happy to wait it out, if I can be confident it will eventually go away.
