Unhappy Spot on Kidney...

I'm new to these boards and have loads of questions. I've had chronic UTIs and kidney infections forever now. Last week (Tuesday), I had a CT done on my abdomen and pelvic area. They found a spot on one of my kidneys. What could this be? Should I be worried? I really haven't gotten to talk to my doctor much because I was also scheduled (Thursday) for a cystoscopy, bilateral renal something (not sure), and something else. However, I was sent home because of a 102 fever and I was throwing up. (Not fun!)

Any helpful info would be great! Especially about the "spot".

Thanks in advance,

Re: Spot on Kidney...

Did they tell you what the spot was/is? My Grandmother had a spot on her kidney 4/5 years ago and GP told her it was a cyst and harmless. So could be this but nag your Dr until they tell you. With a lot of UTI symptoms and fever they should look into this more and get to the bottom of it.

Re: Spot on Kidney...

It's either a kidney stone or calcification

That's what i think

Stones can be ANY size

Re: Spot on Kidney...

It could also be a "complex cyst" which is harmless unless it continues to grow in size or change in appearance. Your urolgolist should determine what course you should follow.

Re: Spot on Kidney...

I have three complex cysts on my right kidney. The largest one is about 1.2 cm. After having a ct scan, the doctor did an ultrasound. After reviewing the imaging they decided to wait 6 mounts and do a followup ultrasound to see if they are growing. I really don't know what to think of my situation, and it causes me a lot of anxiety. People tell me not to worry. I don't know. good luck with your spot.

Re: Spot on Kidney...

Have you found out anything more about this lump? I also was told last week that they found a growth or cyst on my right kidney during a CT scan. I'm going this afternoon for an Ultrasound. It has me worried too. My back right side has been aching for the last month or so and my husband said he can feel a lump about the size of a quarter! It has me scared to death.
