Confused about Varicocele and Ultrasound...

I have had testicle pain for about 3 months now and have been to the ER twice where they gave me an ultrasound. Both ultrasounds came up to have nothing wrong. They kept telling me it was Epididymitis even though I had been on two courses of antibiotics with no relief (told me this in both ERs and at a Urologist). I finally went to another urologist and after an exam he told me he felt a varicocele. My question is how could both ultrasounds miss this?? I now feel like there is no hope for pain relief since I cannot afford to be off work for surgery and I hear that that is the only solution for the pain.

Re: Confused about Varicocele and Ultrasound...

I am interested to hear if you were able to find the root diagnosis of your pain. I am having a similar problem, my physical exam confirmed that I have a varicocele but the Ultrasound showed nothing!!!
I hope you were able to solve your problem.
