    B12 level High

My B12 was low, 200, so the doc put me on a supplement, 5000 mcg sublingual. I have been taking this for 4 months. I just had my bloodwork done, and my B12 level was 2000. I went from 200 to 2000 in 4 months ? What are your thoughts on this ?
    Thank yu

    Re: B12 level High

    Hi cvoor,

5000 mcg daily is extreme, in my opinion. Evidently, your doctor thinks there's no harm in doing so. I once asked a pharmacist if there would be any harm in taking a large dose of B12 and she said "yes". She said that too much B12 can put other B vitamins out of balance. And she referred to a study that was published in a journal, I think it was AMA (not sure).

It seems that many doctors, including the one I had, think that if you get too much there's no harm because you will just pee-out the excess. That may be partly true but, in the process, you may lose other B vitamins that you can't afford to lose. And, in your case, it seems your body didn't get rid of enough of the excess B12.
