    Vitamin D deficiency

I am facing this issue for almost 5 years, in the recent test my deficiency count was 11 out of 20, Is that dangerous? What do I need to do to improve this?

Do you have a copy of your result and what exactly is written down?

If yours says 11 and deficient is < 20...you absolutely need to be on vitamin D supplements. Is it dangerous? Well, it's a very important vitamin for the body's functioning, and deficiency will have an impact on your immediate and definitely long term health.

Has your doctor not suggested supplements?

To take any vitamins, you need a doctor's consultation. You need to take tests, look at the results, study them, and then choose vitamins with your doctor. Otherwise, you can hurt yourself.

Really? Never heard that rule before. What country are you in?

That is actually NOT true for much of the world.

Most people just go to the health food or vitamin shop, and ask for guidance from the in-house health professional (naturopath or herbalist) on duty

You don't need to consult a doctor at all - although if you are taking other prescribed medication - it is prudent to do so in case of interactions.

A naturopath would be a better choice of professionals to prescribe supplements, as they are extremely knowledgeable on the subject

And as long as you stick to the RDA (Recommend Daily Allowance) and follow the instructions label, you will be pretty safe.

You can only hurt yourself if you exceed the dosage or take for a prolonged period without a break, or you have an interaction.
