too much b12 causing fever blisters?

    hi.

well, this is basically whats wrong.

i became a vegetarian couple months ago. so i purchased a form of b vitamin shake to supplent the lack of it from food.

but since ive been drinking it everday, ive had about three breakouts of fever blisters all within weeks of each other. in one case they formed within days of each other...

so now im wondering should i reduce the amount of b vitamins i take in? is too much b12 bad for you? can it be causing my fever blister outbreaks?

Well, it's highly doubtful since vitamin B12 has a very low potential for toxicity. In fact, you may still not be getting enough B12 or perhaps another nutrient.

Yeah, maybe the shake has something in it that you're sensitive or allergic to. Let me know what happens when you stop drinking for a while. Since you've only been a vegatarian for a short time, I'm wondering if you might be lacking some other nutrients. The frequent fever blisters might be an indication of a weakend ammune system. Just another avenue to explore. Who knows, it could also just be a viral infection and you've been reinfecting yourself. Maybe you got the virus, drank from a bottle (the milkshake) then drank from the same bottle again, reinfecting yourself. If the fever blisters are viral, it would be a good idea to toss your toothbrush and get a new one. I'm just throwing a few ideas out there.
