Cool New Here

Hi everyone,
I am new to this board, but i have been reading your posts for a little while now. You all are so nice and supportive! I am 23 and just had my 2nd back surgery. I have gained some weight because i haven't been able to exercise for the last few years because of pain. I am 5'9" and i weigh 180 pounds. I have purchased Winsor Pilates and The Firm. I hope to start them this month, i have to wait for my neurosurgen to give me the go ahead.
I just wanted to say hello, and i would really like to do that summer weight loss challenge.
Good luck to everyone!
Thanks for listening!

welcome! I am relatively new here as well..
we certainly have alot in common. I had back surgery 3 years ago after dealing with pain for many years.
I dont know if there was any specific thing that caused it. After about 17-18 years of dealing with it (it started in college) off and just started getting worse till i was having frequent back spasms and i couldnt walk straight and a few months before my surgery it was sooo bad that i couldnt even get out of bed or move at all for that matter without being in intense paid. I had 3 steroid injections within a 4 month period and it should have lasted 4-6 months each. I decided to see a dr abt surgery. My doctor looked at my mri and said the i had a ruptured disc and it was protruding so badly that he didnt know how i mad it that long! After surgery, it is better. I still have good and bad days. I cant ride anything bumpy (even have to watch speed bumps!)-which means i get to wait for everyone at the amusement park because i cant ride anything and forget standing or walking for a long time or lifting enything over 20 lbs. but I know my limits and if i stick to them I do way better than before! I know i am being long winded but all i am trying to that I can totally relate to what you are going through and I know about excercising. I just will say be careful and good luck and again welcome! The one thing I have learned from reading post is that everyone is very supportive here!
Have a great day!
