What is the point of breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth? Why does that rule exist?

From what I remember, this technique helps get oxygen to the brain quickly as well as keeping your body relaxed... also keeps your muscles more "tense"...

I'm not 100% sure either except maybe to keep you from hyperventilating. My biggest problem was forgetting to breath. I also think that it is to control the uric acid build (or is it lactic?) up in the muscles that can cause cramping.

You should breathe in through your nose because the air will be cleaned as it enters the body this way

Don't know why breathe out through the mouth though. I only really do that if I'm exercising or something. Usually I just breathe through my nose.
