Anyone gain weight because they increased their water consumption?

We all know we need to drink plenty of water to stay healthy...
But I have increased my wather intake by a lot (atleast 5 large glasses a day, which is enough because I am pretty petite) and when I got weighed at the doctor, it said I had gained 6 lbs. I haven't been eating any differently and have actually been cutting back on calories a little (I've struggled with ED's for a long time). I don't work out very much because I have also been dealing with chronic mono. The only thing different is the amount of water I consume and I was wondering if that could cause the weight gain?

BTW, is your urine supposed to be almost clear? I heard that is how you know you are consumming enough water,but I also heard almost clear urine means your kindneys are having to work too hard.

I donno-I drink about a gallon a day and am losing on a steady basis. As far as urine, from what I have always heard, as long as it's clear, you're body is hydrated enough.

Hey! Did you recently start drinking more water? Because it takes awhile for your body to flush out water if you just started. Also, when you got weighed, was it after a day of a lot of water drinking? If you drink tons of water, weigh yourself like 2 or 3 times a month max. Water wont make you gain weight. The weight you gained is probally water weight.

It's probably because you were dehydrated before and didn't realize it. You should drink at least 1/2-3/4 gallon a day or more even if you do no physical activity. Do you consume a lot of salt in your diet? Salt will make you retain water, but that's a good thing being hydrated is very good for you. As long as you feel ok you're fine. Another trick you can do if you're trying to lose weight is drink a couple glasses before every meal, it fills you up so you eat less.
