whole wheat bread

Is whole wheat bread (freshly made no addiitives) good for you, or does it make you gain weight?

I think it's good for you, in moderation of course. Too much of just about anything will make you gain weight. While the calories and carbs are only slightly different for whole wheat and white, the real difference is in the nutrients. Whole wheat flour has a lot more manganese and almost twice as much folacin. Considerably more calcium and potassium. There's reduced calorie whole wheat breads on the market that are really good too. Oh yeah, and whole wheat provides more fiber than white. Nutritionally speaking, you're getting a lot more bang for the buck by using whole wheat instead of white.
