    Is there such a thing as too few calories

    On another thread someone mentioned i should stay below 1800 calories a day. ive cut my eating down to 3 small meals a day. like today a hot pocket for breakfast, 320 cal, lunch an egg roll, probably like 400 cal, and for dinner im going to eat a medium sized salad with no dressing or topping, just teh lettuce, and i had a frapicuno which was 140 calorie. so im guessing my total for today and my average days now are like anywheres from like 1000 to 1500 calories per day. i was wondering if its bad not to eat enough calories, another site said dont eat less then 1200 calories a day?? im confused because i dont want to eat much more for fear of eating too much for today.

    most days i eat one banana for breakfast, lunch usualy just a egg roll, or 2 cups of cherios and a glass of water or a pair, and for dinner i eat a small salad or some fruit or lean meats. so ive cut down basically to 3 small healthy meals a day and no snacks.

    yes there is..you really should eat about 5-6 small meals a day. I would not go under 1,200 calories it's not healthy..Lisa

    like when you say meals, like how big? lol i get confused easily. like one hot pocket or pair or banana would be a meal. so like i could eat a banana for breakfast, a egg roll for lunch, after school 2 cups of cherios, dinner a small salad, and at like 8 pm something else small? would that be what your talking about. thanks for the help.
    I also heard eating after 7 pm is bad?

    It sounds to me like you may not be eating enough. ONE Banana for Breakfast?

    That is definately not enough for breakfast. I think may you need to choose Better foods so you can eat more.

    Here is a Typical Day for me:


    Cheerios With Milk 160 Calories
    Egg Whites 4/5 Cup 100 Calories
    Yogurt with 1/2 Banana and 2 spoons of granola 125 Calories
    Micholinas Advantage Frozen Dinner 120 - 190 calories (depending which one)
    Yogurt 100 calories
    Apple 60 calories
    Asparagus with a little Cheese Sauce 50 calories
    8 Dried Apricot Halves 75 Calories
    Chicken Breast 200 Calories
    Mixed Veggies 50 Calories
    Potato or Rice or Bread 100 Calories
    Yogurt With Fruit and Granola (Bigger Portion then Before) 175 calories

    that is a lot more food then you are eating but only adds up to 1475 Calories.


    You Should Eat when you are hungary....I typically spread this Food out over the Entire day...Breakfast, Mid Morning Snack, Lunch, Mid Afternoon Snack, Dinner, and Evening Snack.

    I agree with pipermac..all the wrong foods except for maybe the banana. Smaller meals like plenty of veggies, lean cuts of meat and fruit. You don't need to count calories when they are rich in fiber they fill you up. Also processed foods such as lean pockets are no good. Chose whole grains. Try making your meals for the week on Sunday so you have enough like a pot of veggie chili. I eat baked yams for a snack..Lisa
