    Initial water-weight loss...isn't happening

I'm a little surprised. I starting drinking lots and lots of water, which supposedly encourages the body to let go of its water stores and causes a weight loss of at least a couple of pounds, after which the "real" weight loss begins to happen at a somewhat slower rate. Well, I have lost about one pound, but no dramatic water-weight loss. Maybe I had no extra water to lose?...

it's not just drinking more water..the most water-loss usually happens when a person begins a diet or just a healthy change in the way they are eating

when I started my "healthy eating" I drank lots and lots of water. I lost alot of weight, but now its been about 4 weeks and I am only losing 1lb or 2 if any. I thought I was doing real good, but someone explain that you will lose water at first and then your body will start burning the fat you store.

I try to. Sometimes the sodium sneaks its way in though. I've definitely reduced my sodium intake by cutting out things like soda and chips. It's the hidden sodium that's hard to avoid.

check on packages too. the sodium count can be way high and retain water where you will gain

If you lose water weight it will just come back, unless you were already holding a lot of excess water, which you may not have been. And you should watch your sodium intake like the others said if you want to reduce water retention. Oh, and losing water and fat are two completely different things, you don't lose water first then lose fat, you could lose fat on its own, or lose both at the same time.
