5'8-9, 14 years old, 200+ lbs. . . . HELP ! !

I am 14 years old, I and about 5'8-9, and I WEIGH 200 LBS ! This is not healthy, I know but nothing seems to work! I excercise regularly and I got these new diet pills, Metabolite, and they make me not want to eat at all, I feel like I am leaning towards anorexia. All I've had in the last 48 hours is a can of peaches and a can of yogurt. My mom said I need fat in my diet and if I don't have SOME fat that I will get skinny way too fast and then when I start eating again I'll gain all the weight back and more. I DON'T need that to happen I really need some advise Please I wear about a 16-17-18 and I want to get down to about a 7-8 (if I can) pleaseeeee help meeeeeee

    Re: 5'8-9, 14 years old, 200+ lbs. . . . HELP ! !

its ok dear, i was in your exact shoes when i was fourteen. i was about the same height i am now, (five five) and i was one hundred and eighty pounds. i was a size sixteen. i went on a diet when i was about fifteen. (the atkins diet to be specific)

i was on that diet for almost three years! but my point is that i lost fifty pounds in the course of those three years. i chose not to do it so quickly. i think that is why i will maintain my weight loss.

i am seventeen right now, and i am maintaining a soup diet, but i have relaxed to a low calorie diet for now. i am currently about one thirty five at five five. i am STILL not happy with myself. i do not truly know if i will ever be happy with myself. i am battling my weight EVERYDAY. sometimes it is repulsive to see my friends eat everything they want, but i have to accept the fact that i am different, and that i have other better qualities....like brains.

one other thing to mention: ask yourself why you are losing the weight. if you aren't losing it for the right reasons, you might lose, but it will come back. i came to this epiphany in the middle of my weight loss. i had to tell myself that crushes come and go, and this is something that has taken almost seventeen years for me to conclude. this was a major break through for me. you have to want to lose the weight. you have to do it for yourself. nobody else.

i completely understand what you are going through. as for your sudden loss of appetite, this might be your brain telling you how you are supposed to react to the drugs. something like a placebo pill reaction. i know this has happened to me several times. i think you will slowly gain a moderate appetite back again, and if you don't i would consider visiting a physician, and if things get really serious (and you aren't denying it) you could see a psychologist. there are also some great informational groups like this one on the net that can help you through day to day problems...and cravings. i hope this helps just a little, and be sure to know....a size eight doesn't make anybody else feel good about you, it only makes YOU feel good about you. take care, and post regularly.

If you are not eating much your brain will put you into "starvation mode" and your metabolism will drop and you won't burn many calories. Try to get some calories into your body. Not eating is not the answer to losing weight.

Yeah, thanks for your help, you were right, my mom made me eat more and I found out that I don't eat as much as I used to but that's a good thing, thanks for your help, I did find a scale, it's about 210 and I really want to get down to 150 at least, I really do want this for myself, I think it will boost my confidence and help me to make more friends and lose the old ones. I weigh more than my own mother ! my 6 pounds, but 6 pounds is 6 pounds, I am going to make dieting and watching what I eat and excercise a regular part of my life, I want to lose it a little faster though, I am entering high school next year and I want to be accepted more, don't get me wrong, I have friends and all, I am not looking to be popular or anything but . . . you know

I am 16. I am 5' 8". 172 lbs. I have lost 15 lbs in the last 4 months. I have been taking extreme power plus. It gives me alot more energy and burns fat. However, I started doing stretches and running. I think you should start streching 2 times a day. After you have got that down continue to stretch and start some running around the block. You will lose weight! Unfortunatley extreme power plus is not too cheap like $30 for a months supply. But it works. Do a search on *********** for extreme power plus and buy some! Also follow my directions and i guarentee you will lose pounds. Also make sure you have a good scale. I need a new one according to it my weight fluxuates 10lbz within a few minutes.

Please excuse my direct manner I'm not really a "people person." Why do you act as if you are trying to lose weight only for yourself? And then try to justify your current weight with "brains." Let's be honest, most people wish to lose weight purely for the effect it will have on others. Guys work out because they wish to attract the opposite sex, for example, not because having large muscles makes them particularly useful members of society. I'm in no way condemning this, it is simply human nature in all but the most anti-social people. If you truly want to lose weight you need absolute determination and dedication. It's as simple as that, no pills, no crazy diets, no starvation dieting. However, the key word is "absolute" if you can't make yourself exercise regularly, then just say "****** it," give up, and be happy with yourself. You will only cause misery if you try to go "Half-way" your entire life.

I disagree with your statement "most people wish to lose weight purely for the effect it will have on others." I for one wanted to lose weight so I wouldn't get tired going up stairs. So I could play a full game of hockey without wanting to shoot myself in the head by the end of the game for being so exhausted. So I could shop in most stores and fit into their clothes.

It was purely health reasons for me. There are 3 other people that I know have lost weight for these basic reasons. I have no problems in the people department. I have a lot of friends, I have a girlfriend, and I have no need to have an "effect" on other people. I believe for most people it comes down to the simple fact that they figured out that being overweight is really unhealthy and they want to change. That is the first and biggest step to losing weight in my opinion.

Just to throw my comments in. I am not losing weight for how I look either. I am losing weight so that I can get off of my cholestoral medications and also get off my pain medication for arthritis. (no, I'm not 90 - I'm 37). Being heavy limits my life! That is why I am losing weight. I am doing it slowly...about 2 - 3 pounds per week, but as an earlier post mentioned...time goes by quickly and it really adds up!

I think people that REALLY want to lose weight mostly do it for their health, and "looking better" is an added bonus.

    God Bless!

    Love, Di
