Any Advice? Gastric Bypass...

I had Gastric Bypass Surgery in 10/2011...My only regret (so far) is it took me so long to do it. However, there have been times recently that I am severely hot - then extremely cold. It's like having a really bad "hot flash" - where I am cold sweaty ... withing seconds of it going away, I am freezing. I don't know if this is from the GB Surgery of not. I really want to know if anyone else is having this problem.

Also, I sometimes, I get very light-headed for a few seconds and nauseated. It doesn't last very long but it is a little scary. I have not been able to link it to food or drink. I mentioned it to my Dr who said she thought it might be "anxiety" - she prescribed the very lowest does of Xanax. Not much help if any. Also using hormone therapy patches do not help...(I had a hysterectomy in 1997 so...according to my Dr., I should be through with menopause???)
Any Advice??

Re: Any Advice? Gastric Bypass...

My best friend had the Gastric Bypass surgery and she also had times when she felt very hot then cold. I believed it was explained to her as Dumping, Foods that are too high in sugar, fat or grease will enter your intestines too quickly and make you nauseous, sweaty, and possibly give you hot flashes.

My friend is at year two now and is doing wonderful. The "hot flashes" have completely vanished. She is able to eat more without getting sick and has absolutely no regrets about the surgery.
