Should I worry about my armpit?

Last summer I suddenly noticed a small ident in my armpit, not even a dimple but it rather looks like a pen or something had poked into me. It used to be deep but has come much further to the surface now but is still there. Iíve also noticed that my armpit feels fatter? I canít really explain it but itís definitely feels fattier than my other and though itís not painful I am aware of the different feel of it. I also have what feels like a hard spot, I can feel the top of it like you would a spot of wart, but itís been a few weeks now and it hasnít come to a head or changed shape at all.

Iíve been to the doctors previously and they said nothing was wrong, but to me if it was nothing then it would have gone back to normal by now and there hasnít been much difference. Iím only 21 but I worry about it on a semi regular basis and am considering going back for a second opinion. Iím in no way in any pain, and itís not red or annoying, but Iím just so aware that it looks and feels different to my other armpit and the way it was a year ago.

I donít really know what to think as no descriptions online seem to match what I have, and Iím having no problems with my breasts as Iíve checked and I feel generally fine so I donít think it could be cancerous at all.

Satina, do you see a gynecologist? A gyno can do a breast palpitation, which includes your armpits and glands and tell you if anything feels strange. She can also refer you to an ultrasound or mammogram if necessary. You said you were 21, if you have not seen a gyn yet, now is as good as a time as ever to have an exam.

No I’ve never been, but I do have PCOS so maybe I should. Do you think there is a chance the two things could be connected?

I do not know..it could be an enlarged lymph node, but I am not a doctor and because you have PCOS, you need to be under the care of a gyno, anyway. Who diagnosed you with PCOS if not a gynecologist?
Go see one and ask about your armpit..it cannot hurt.

Iíve never had a regular cycle and I was sent for a scan of my ovaries and whatnot and nothing abnormal came up, so my GP said that I probably did have it. I was on birth control pills for a while just to control it, but this just led to occasionally really heavy periods that would even stop me leaving the house. Last time I went I was told just to stop and observe my natural cycle, and it has been a while now though I do bleed a little here and there. I was planning to visit my doctor again soon about it, so I will probably find out more then.

Satina, go see a specialist.. a gynecologist who can do the correct tests on you and determine if you have PCOS or not. It is a very uncomfortable disease and there are treatments available...in the meantime, she can check out your lump and see if it needs further investigation.

You are old enough now to have your own GYN, its time!
