Post Should I take a week off BCP?

I skipped the placebo week last month and didnt get my period. Now I am on week three of the next pack and the spotting I'm experiencing is very thick and heavy and brown. I feel like my body is pushing my period out of me or something. Should I just go straight to the placebo pills tomorrow or wait it out through the last four days of the pack? This is very very heavy and kind of worrying me.

Definitely keep taking the last 4 days of pills before taking the sugar pills, it wont do any harm. I've heard of people skipping periods (by skipping the sugar pills) and experience spotting at various times of the month as a consequence - I think it's something your body needs to get used to (or may never get used to, dependant on each individual I think).

If you experience any abnormal pain or if your worry gets the better of you, don't hesitate to go to the doc.

Were you planning to keep skipping your periods by not taking the placebo pills, or was that a one off thing? If it was a one off, I'm pretty confident your body will get itself back into synch in your next cycle. If you plan to keep skipping them on a longer-term basis, you'll probably just need to try it and see how your body adjusts.

Hope this helps a little.

Sarah

Thank you so much for replying, I turned on my computer this morning holding my pill praying someone would tell me whether to take it or not! Haha. Anyway, I will go ahead and finish the pack. The reason I didn't take the placebos last month was because I wanted to keep taking the continuous hormones because I'm using this for acne and I was afraid of breaking out. I will probably ask my gyno about skipping placebos if I end up breaking out on the sugar pills. Thanks again.

L.
