Pregnancy at 50

What are the odds of natural conception for a lady who is 50?

As long as you're healthy and still getting your monthly friend - it's very possible. It's dangerous to concieve and carry a baby to full term at that age, but it is possible!

as long as youve still got your"lady time" id say its pretty good. but make sure you are healthy enough to carry this baby. and think of the babies future. when that child is 10...youll be 60. 30......youll be 80.

The periods continue, but the fertility drops off. Your chance of getting pregnant at 50 is slim, but not zero. You'd be wise not to throw out the diaphram.

My 49-year-old girlfriend's doctor told her, "Could happen. But if it does, I'll write to the New England Journal of Medicine".

While it's possible, it's probably not a great idea. The older you are the higher your chances are of delivering a baby with mental, physical, and genetic defects. Which in the end, is really a selfish choice. The best option is to contact a doctor and talk about the safest options.

Re: Pregnancy at 50

I know many women that got pregnant in their 50's. A couple of them thought that they were going through menopause, then they found out that wasn't the case. The others went through fertility treatment to have children. All them rely heavily on either their older children to help them, or full time nannies. It's just too hard to take care of a baby at that age. Women are naturally more capable in their 20's. One woman I know used her daughter's eggs to get pregnet through invitro-fertilization . They brought her out of menopause through hormones to do this. I felt this was messing with nature too much.
