Talking Chemical DNC?

Hello
I went to my regular doctor today because I could not get into a OB/gyn anywhre anytime soon. I started my period Dec 20th and then went on to have another full period after it ended within 24 hours. Now 2 days ago I started hemmorhaging and clotting to the point that I knew something was seriously wrong. My doc got me right in and because of the heavy heavy bleeding and huge clots could only give me progesterone and estrogen (and some iron pills, I was already a 9 on my hemoglobin--12 is the lowest normal) and got me into a specialist for Tuesday. He mentioned that the Obgyn might do a chemical dnc.
Has anyone had one of those? And if so could you please tell me what it entails and what to expect?
I appreciate any comments?
Up to this point I never had a period problem in my life and I am very regular (I am 35). So this has all been a little dizzying!!

Re: Chemical DNC?

I have never heard of a "Chemical" D&C.
I had a C&D when I had a missed miscarriage at 14 weeks.
I was put to sleep, and they suctioned out my uterus.
Most Dr's with scrape it.
It thins the lining and helps clean it out. They do it alot for people having problems with their period.

It's a very common procedue. I was put to sleep under a General. Seem'd like I just closed my eyes and it was over. No pain or anything.

But like I said, I have never heard of a Chemical D&C.
