    Frequent Urination

I had been having mild frequent urination for since about a week and half ago. It finally hit its head last Mon when I was peeing every 15 minutes with very little coming out. I went to doctor last Wed and they did a urine test and found an infection, so I prescribed 3 days of Cepro. Sat was my last does and I still felt like I had to pee alot and it got so annoying I finally took a dose of generic Uristat. I called doctor on yesterday because this should have gone away already. Doctor did another Urine test and said it had some white blood cells but since my main symtom is frequent urination without burning that she should do a gynological exam. So this was done and nothing showed up abnormal. She said she will prescribe another antiobiotic, but if this does not clear up that I should have a pelvic ultrasound.

Here's the thing, I mentioned to her that I felt like my urethra was irritated and causing me to urinated frequently. I did not think of this until now because I didn't think it was related and maybe it could be. I had shaved down there several weeks ago and I have had some minor itching and I am wondering if this irritation is part of why the tip of my urethra feels irritated and why my vulva feels like its pulsating like there is an irritation and the itchiness I feel as the hair grows back. Could this be the reason for the real symptom of frequent urination and could it mimic vaginitis?

I don't think I need to go for more extensive tests. Wouldn't the doctor noticing when examining my ya ya that there is some sort of irritation or could it not be showing. I am on a 5 day Leviquin antibiotic and I am thinking of trying to find a different doctor because I don't really feel comfortable with the diagnois. Does anyone have any suggestions or questions?

    Re: Frequent Urination

I pee all the time too, but I think it's because I drink a lot of coffee. Sometimes I have to give the coffee a break and drink a whole gallon of cranberry juice (slowly, over the course of a day) to clear out my system. I'm serious, it works.

I also have very frequent bladder infections, but they've gotten considerably more infrequent since we started using condoms without spermicide.

Sugar in your diet can definitely irritate the you-know-what.

    Hope I helped a bit.

Blue10, you are so right about taking a break from the coffee. I have to do the same but I drink a load of water every day to clean out my system. Nothing is more scary than a full on UTI. Sugar also irritates, thats a fact.
My advice to anyone with UTI's, keep frozen cranberry juice in the frig, and always drink water daily. Good luck, I wish you the best. UTI's are no fun at all.

    Re: Frequent Urination

My sister in law had the same problems, she had urinary track infections every other week, the cause? Caffiene (sorry can't spell) so she switched to diet cola's and haven't had any problems in 3 years now...She was taking every antibiotic on the planet until one doctor asked is she drank alot of regular pop! She has been on diet cola's and NOT one problem..Also, if you are sexually active, be very careful because your urethra opening is right next to your ya ya and that can cause alot of problems, you can easily get a yeast infection in there from an infected partner, try using a condom...Also, Leviquin is ONE of the most powerful antibiotics out there, they give me that for bronchitis and pneumonia and asthma, so if that doesn't kick it, then you better see what else is going on. Keep up the uristat, that stuff is wonderful and also, drink lots of cranberry juice like a jub of it daily, that is the natural way of getting rid of a bladder infection, they come in all kinds of different flavors, like crangrape is really good. Another thing you might check into is a kidney stone, I felt like peeing all the time when I had mine, I ended up in the hospital with severe pain and finally couldn't pee at all until that dam thing came out...YOU might want to get checked for that, also alot of people who drink pop esp Mt Dew suffer from frequent stones. I would see a specialist if it continues...
