one pregnancy test positive, two other tests after that negative

Hi, I took a pregnancy test (EPT) yesterday at about 11:30 AM and the reading clearly said "pregnant"--it says either "pregnant" or "not pregnant." As this was NOT a planned pregnancy, I freaked out and went to the store and bought another pregnancy test (First Response). I took another test at about 1:00 and it read negative. I took another test using First Response at about 8:00pm and it also read negative. I did make an appt. tomorrow with a doctor, but why would one test say I am pregnant and the other two say I am not. I decided to stop taking the pill about a month ago. I stupidly had unprotected sex the day after I ended my last period (on a Friday) and the Sunday after that Friday was the first Sun. that I did not start a new pack of pills in 11 years, so I wonder if I even was ovulating?

any advice?

I would have stuck with another ept test if i were you. I am not sure if I trust first response. It once gave me a negative when I really was pregnant.

All I know is that a test can say that you're NOT pregnant even when you are, however, it can't say that you ARE pregnant if you're not. This is because the test cannot pick up the "pregnancy hormone" if it's not present in your urine, but it could possibly miss it (giving you a negative reading, even when you are pregnant). So if it read positive, it definitely picked up the pregnancy hormone -- thus, meaning pregnancy. Go to the doctor and get a blood test if you want to be 100% sure, but unless there's some flaw in the product, I'd say that you're pregnant. Good luck w/ everything.

I doubt you were ovulating that soon. Good luck...I hope things work out for you.
