3rd degree tear, bump "down there"

I hope I'm posting this in the right place...anyway I gave birth a week ago to my daughter, and I had a 3rd degree tear my doc says. I know it's going to be sore, swollen, etc, and the pain has lessoned a little over the past week, but I finally had the courage to look down there with a mirror, and I noticed at the very top of the tear (closest to the labia) there is a little bump, and that is what is causing me all this pain, and it it weren't for that little thing, I would be able to sit down more comfortably. Does anyone know what this is? It started off kind of looking like a little pimple, but sometimes it swells and causes a lot of pain. I don't know whether to bring this up to my doctor before my 6 week appt. I am hoping it is just normal swelling, but it looks kind of gross! Sorry if tmi

I've never had a tear but if I were you I'd run it by the doctor before the appt. I don't know if you've been soaking in a "sitz" (sp?) bath or not but I've heard some women do that to relieve the soreness. You could try putting some peroxide on it. Whenever I get a painful bump down there that's what I do but I know it's not the same thing. I wish I had better advice for you because I was extremely afraid of that happening & was relieved to have a c-section.

I would not recommend peroxide! It will burn like you are in labor again. I had a 4th degree tear pretty bad. Go to the DR as soon as you can. The bump may be a pocket of infection or simply some swelling around stiches. Better to get it check out incase you have an infection to treat it early.

Tucks pads (hemmoroid pads with witchazel) were my saving grace. I put about three pads right on my pad in my underwear and changed them about every hour or so. I was ripped from one opening to the other. It helped keep the swelling and itching down. I used them for about 4 weeks straight and the itching wasn't so bad. Also, sitz baths will keep you clean. Don't wipe, but rinse in the bath and use your squirt bottle. I would give my baby a bath in there with me when i could not get alone.

It will heal soon and just remember to take it easy and let yourself heal before pushing it too much.
Good Luck,
