Angry spotting..something to worry about

* FYI year before this I also had a pap come back abnormal had a colposcopy and everything checked out fine since ** About two years ago I started spotting and horrible lower left pelvic pain. I called my gyno at that time and he was currently out of town and the on call dr. would not see me. By the time my dr got back my pain had died down some but, wasn't gone. I went in and he examined me and said everything looked fine if I started having more problems to contact his nurses for a ultra sound. I went and got a second opinon and this dr I went to said it sounded like an ovarian cyst and she was going to put me on a stronger bc pill to help regulate everything. Since then I have had no problems...until last Sunday I got up and took a shower went to the bathroom and noticed when I wiped there was blood..this has continued since. I haen't had a lot of pain just some uncomfortable times. The only thing that stood out was sunday morning I was picking up our living room and bent down to pick up some blankets to fold and had a stabbing pain in my pelvic area. I rose and it subsided. I have contacted my doctor but he wants to wait until after my period next week for me to come in. As far as I know I don't feel as though I have BV or a yeast infection. I used to have both of them chronically and finally when my bc pills were switched this too stopped. I am scared and worried and don't want to go through all this again. Has any one had situations like this and what seemed to be the problem? I am married and have not had children I am 26 yrs old. , I am on the bc pill Portia or a generic of Nordette. Any responses would be greatly appreciated! Thanks ladies!

Re: spotting..something to worry about

Hello Dorthy,

Most likely it is the birth control pill that is causing all of this. When I was on the pill continuously for about 20 years, I began to have the exact same problem that you are having (pelvic pain and spotting which after a few months turned into heavy irregular bleeding). I went to my doctor and did an endometrial biopsy, just to be sure that there was nothing wrong with my uterus, in addition to a pap smear. When these came back normal, he was going to switch me to a stronger pill but I said no way and went off the pill altogether (I used another form of contraception). This immediately solved the problem and I have never had any spotting since.

I hope this helps.
