Thick endometrial stripe?

Can anyone tell me what is a normal thickness for the uterine lining? Mine was 21 mm on ultrasound, and the ultrasound was done the day after my period ended.
TIA!

Re: Thick endometrial stripe?

21mm is a very thick endometrial stripe, indeed. Something unusual is going on and you should follow-up. A thickened endometrial lining that is still very thick on the day after your period ended means that there is overgrowth. There is a short list of reasons why this could be, some not bad at all, others more serious. A few minutes on the internet searching will give you plenty of possibilities, but I hope you will get more information from your doctor and lab testing to be sure you get some answers. Good luck!

Thanks darkwater, I do have a follow up coming up. Hopefully it is nothing serious! I have no idea how thick is too thick, but I would think it should be a lot thinner at that point in my cycle. The ultrasound tech said it looked like I was about to start my period, but I had just finished one. I guess I will get some answers soon.
