I continue to baffle my doctors...

For a quick recap, I have had "BV" for about a year and a half. However, all tests that have been done, all cultures grown out and everything, have been normal/negative. I've been sent to a bunch of different gynos and then referred to a vulvovaginal specialist. No one can figure out what is going on. Excessive discharge, lots of WBC, some pelvic pain that comes and goes.

So, recently my doctor decided to put me on some boric acid suppositories. I started them about 4 days after my period ended. Was supposed to do 1 a night for 10 nights (600mg) but after night 3, I had to stop because I was spotting and feeling really irritated. Usually, after my period I get about 3-4 days of brown/black discharge-old blood making it's way out. However, it has been about 3 weeks since my period ended and did the boric acid and EVERY single day, I had these black clumps coming out. I emailed my Dr. and he said it was probably just old blood making it's way out from an irregular cycle, mind you, this was about 1.5 weeks while it was happening.

I tried not to worry about it, but after 2.5 weeks passed, I decided I ought to talk to someone. I called a nurse and she said it was not normal and I need to be seen. I immediately made an appt to see my local gyno and saw her this morning.

She did an exam and took out this huge clump of black junk from my vagina. I'm sorry for the visual; I know it is disgusting. I'd say it was about 4 inches long. She stared at it, stared at me and asked what it was. I said I had no idea, that's why I came to her because I was getting chunks about the size of a dime and I had no clue. She threw it out, took a swab but couldn't do any other tests because I was so irritated. I could hardly tolerate the exam at all.

What the heck?! Has anyone ever experienced anything like that before? Is it possible that it was just clotted blood that got stuck or something? I mean, the only thing I put up there recently was the boric acid and that was 3 weeks ago. I don't use tampons and I'm not sexually active. Very, very weird. As if my mystery BV wasn't enough, now I had that. My pelvic pain immediately went away as soon as she removed it which is good, though now I feel like my insides are on fire.

The doc I saw this morning wants to put me on Flagyl (sigh) but I've literally been on it more than 10 times previously and it doesn't help. I do need something to help calm this irritation though. I don't know what to do!
