Tubal Reversal

I am considering a tubal reversal and was wondering if anyone has had one or knows anything about them. I was 21 when I had mine done and am now 31. I was given false info about my last delivery and was lead to believe i could never deliver children again - which has turned out to be false. I am now in a new relationship and we really want to have a baby. Could anyone give me any direction on this?

Re: Tubal Reversal

Hi Wendy, I am personally in the process of getting a tubal reversal. My dh and I had my tubes tied 4 years ago and have regretted it ever since. There is a very good possibility you can have it reversed. Try one of these websites for more info. www.blessedarrows.com and www.by-his-mercies.com. You will find lists of Dr.s who do these surgeries at very reduced costs. Are you planning to be married soon? Good luck.

Re: Tubal Reversal

I am hoping I can get a reversal done. My boyfriend and I haven't set a date yet but this was one of my things i wanted to find out before we got married because he wants kids of his own and so do i.

I am in the process of finding a cheap but good dr. in Minnesota right now. I know insurance doesnt' cover a reversal so i will have to pay for it out of my own pocket.

I am hoping the dr. says yes i can have a reversal and then we can set a date and we want to try and get pregnant right away...

what does dh mean?

How much is your surgery going to cost? I have heard you have to be out of work for two weeks. Is that what they are telling you to?

Good luck with your surgery and I wish you ALL the luck and all my prayers for a positive responsel.

Re: Tubal Reversal

hi Wendy,
Dh means Dear Husband. Have you checked into prices? I am in Iowa, and here it costs $15000 (yes thousand) there is no way we could ever afford that. Then we came across one of the websites above and found Dr.s who do it as a ministry. You are definately not the only one who was misinformed about the need for sterilization.

Anyway we found a Dr. in Tennessee. His name is Dr. Curlin and he is a retired OBGYN. He did his first reversal 20 years ago, one was even on his own wife. He just retired as an OB-GYN this year, but only because he felt called to just do tubal reversals. Anyway the important thing is he only charges $3500 (a fifth of what's normal) this is all inclusive (includes hospital and antethetic charges) For us it's definately worth the trip.
The techniche your doctor uses will most likely determine how much pain you have and how long till you will heal.
Dr. Curlin does a 4 inch insision and then does not suture. He uses a saran-wrap like bandage that is better to hold the incision together and aids in traveling. Most patients are released the day of surgury to travel. The ladies i have talked to have had minimal pain, and all of them have had to travel. Depending on how you do, some women have been back to work in a week.
I am a homeschooling SAHM so it won't be a problem for me.

There is also at least one DR. who uses laprascope type instruments and only leaves you with two small holes.
Sorry so long. Good luck. Ask me anything.
Sheila

Re: Tubal Reversal

Hi i had a tubal reversal in 1992 i had my tubes tied at eighteen and had them reversed at 25 i regretted getting them tied it is possible and can be sucessful except for tubal scaring can lead to a ectopic pregnancy so be careful, i had , had to pregnancies both were c-sections and were bad pregnancies so i had my tubes tied , i became involved in a new relationship years later and had them reversed i got pregnant in 1994 , 2 years after reversal but had a ectopic and almost died , they told me i would never have anymore children the scaring was really bad in my remaining tube and i lost my left ovary and tube due to ectopic i was 2 months pregnant , years went by and i was determined to get a second opinion so in 1998 i went to a specialist here in canada and had a procedure done they ran dye through my remaining tube and 5 months later i became pregnant best pregnancy i ever had i gave birth to a baby girl almost nine pds by c- section i was awake through it all it was the best pregnancy ever had my miracle after all these years if you want it bad enough go for it , dont give up hope when you get frustrated if u dont get pregnant right away take my advice , have faith it happened to me after all these years , also my very best friend in calgary , canada had 1 tube remaining after she had a reversal because she lost the other one to a cyst gave birth to a girl to so good luck to you and dont give up i didnt i was determined to keep trying and my dreams came true good luck all, lori-lynn

Re: Tubal Reversal

Thanks Lori,

I plan on doing whatever needs to be. I always wanted more children - but my husband at the time didn't - I had to fight for my second one, but deep done always wanted more. Now that I am in this new relationship my boyfriend and I have talked about what we are going to do if I can't have children again and he has been so wonderful he just keeps telling me that no matter what we will have a baby of our own even if you have to do invitro - but I told him I want to try the reversal first and he is backing me 100%. I am nervous about having a eptopic pregnancy so I guess the dr. will just have to watch me extra close!

What an encouraging story - thank you for sharing it with me.

Are you planning on having any more?

Wendy
