    Extremely Painful Ovarian Cyst

I am 20 yrs old. I went to the hospital with extreme abdominal pain. I could barely walk. I received 3 doses of morphine and when that wasn't working I had 3 more doses of something stronger and I still could feel the pain. The on-call PA was very inconsiderate and did not answer any of my questions. I was told I have an ovarian cyst that is 1.5 inches and it was stretching my ovary and that is why I am in so much pain. They sent me home with some Naproxen 500 mg and 5mg-325mg Norcos. I have taken 2 Naproxen as well as 3 Norcos in the past 5 hours. I am still in a lot of pain and it is extremely uncomfortable. I have an appointment with an OBGYN Thursday morning, but I don't know if I should wait that long or what. I am really dizzy and have a fever. I have already taken more medication than recommended. I have no idea what I should do.

With a fever and that much pain, I would go back to the emergency room. Call your primary care physician too if you can, even if you have to page them. The fever is concerning.

    Re: Extremely Painful Ovarian Cyst

Youve probably gotten your problem solved by now but just in case. That is very concerning. I have had the same problem before and it turned out to be an Ovarian Torsion. It is when you have an ovarian cyst that grows large that it twists on the fallopian tube itself and cuts off blood supply to the entire ovary. You will get very ill with extreme pain that is not alleviated by meds. Be careful with this because it can be toxic!
