Recurrent Thrush Problem

I am hoping someone out there may have been in my position and has this problem sorted (not I would wish this on anyone)!!

I made the mistake of washing myself (down there) with soap and 3 days later developed a very bad case of thrush (very itchy and sore) which I treated with an oral tablet and external cream. It took a while (about a week) ,but it cleared up. However since then I have had several cases of thrush which have been digonosed as such by the doctor. I am getting it every 2 weeks,(for the past 5 months) it seems at ovulation and at the beginning of my period. (That would be 24 times a year if I left it untreated)!

I have been prescribed Fluconazole 150mg capsule and instructed to take one a week for 6 months. I am now 1 month in and at ovulation and a little itchy

I have read online that the yeast can become resistant to fluconazole, has anyone had this experience? If after the 6 month course the thrush has not gone, what then???

I'd appreciate any advice you can give me.
