Colostomy bag after having a 4th degree tear
Hi everyone I wanted to see if there has been anyone else that ended up with a 4th degree tear during childbirth and ended up with a colostomy bag. On the 30th June I had my baby girl after a few trips back to the hospital they finally sent me to other one as they thought I may have had a bowel problem when. Got there they told me that I would have a colostomy bag on for 3 to 6 months for everything to heal. Anyway they are now looking at me having it on for longer as things are not healing real well. I've had 4 lots of surgery's in 4 months :(

Re: Colostomy bag after having a 4th degree tear
Im on the same boat. Ileostomy after a 4th degree. I am currently undergoing repairs that started in august 2012 and no reversal date yet. I feel your pain. I dont like that I cant carry my 22 pound baby when I hv the surgeries. My Dr since the beginning told me this surgeries take a long time to heal bcs of the nature of the area. I think the ostomy bag is kind of traumatic for a woman with no previous bowel conditions bcs it changes the body image and all that, but I think is great to keep the area clean free of feces and bacteria. Also the diet is very restricted but I take it day by day. Would love to keep in touch with you. Wish you to heal soon.
