: : I have been diagnosed via a CTScat that I have a pineal cyst. I am having an MRI done on the 14th. Family Doctor and ER Doctor have a strong suspicion that it may just be a calcium deposit. What happens after diagnosis? Do you have surgery and if so, do they remove it? Just what is this, what am I to expect and what are side effects of this?
: : : I'm responding to the message that you have written about your grandaughter. How old is she? How long has she been having migraine headaches? The reason I ask, is because we found last Oct. 18, 1998 that my daughter who was 8 years old( now is 9) has a Pineal Cyst 1.8cm. She has experienced awful migraines since she was 5 years old. These "so-called" doctors tried to tell us it was stress, then allergies, then her diet, but they were all wrong! Their last response was to do a MRI, and that is when they found it. We have been from the University of VA., the Neurosurgeon we saw A.S.A.P. was Dr,\. John Jane.(he was the one who saved Christopher Reeves life) but he too was uncertain of this rarely scene cyst, if it had anything to do with her migraines. They proceded with spinal tabs, lumbar punctures, marrow tests to confirm it was benign. We now take her to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD where she is under the care of Dr. Ben Carson and his staff. Nothing has changed with her cyst over the year, but she still experiences 2 to 3 major migraines a week. All I know to tell you is just to keep the faith, and pray.
: : : : My granddaughter has been diagnosed with a pineal cyst. She has terrible headaches, sometimes double vision, blurred vision. Her test scores have dropped at school. The doctor said to monitor it and see if it grows. We are going to a child neurologist at Riley Hospital next week. I don't know what to expect. I want her to be all that she can be. I'm afraid that if they don't remove it that she will have problems all through school. It is 1 cm. in size.

: : Have any of you with a pineal cyst had a pituitary tumor removed? My cyst showed up on the MRI done one month after transphenoidal surgery for a microadenoma of the pituitary. I there no alternative besides surgery for these? I don't want to repeat that experience again If I can avoid it. I'm a Nutritionist and I will explore some nutritional medical solutions for this. I'm almost sure I will find one.

: My daughter who is 9 yrs. old was experiencing terrible headaches, fatigue and flushing of one side of her face. Her symptoms started last Spring when she was 8 and have continued to get worse. The flushing has moved down into her hand as well as her face. She has had MRA
