: : My son was diagnosed when he was 1 1/2 years. He walks on his on but he holds his arms straight and in back of him and he also walks with his feet in. I asked the doctors if his condition will ever get any worse and they cannot seem to answer that. Does anyone know whether the condition worsens with age?

: Hi Dena:
: The damage to the brain has been done. The only way for his condition to worsen is do to consequences of his gait or posture. It took 5 yrs for the doctors to diagnose my daughter with CP. As a consequence of her toe walking her right heel never got the pressure it needed to grow properly. It is the size of a 3yrs old's. So, I highly recommend that you get your son walking and putting pressure on his heels so they don't attorphy. I hope this is of some help to you. Take care.

Thank you so much for responding. Sometimes I feel like there is no one else out there that can relate to the everyday trials and tribulations of having a child with health problems. Tyler is now receiving Botox and alsso wears a brace on the foot that he toe walks on. The Botox really seems to help but I know that this is only a temoray solution to a long term problem. I just feel like it is a waiting game. Waiting to see if he will continue to walk or if someday he will not be able to and when you ask the doctors, they always says that growth spirts can alter his current abilities. That is a scarey thought.

Once again thank you so much for your response and good luck to you and your daughter. You are in my prayers!
