Hi Bob,

Thank you for having such concern for your daughter. I'm sure your support is one reason she isn't depressed.

When you mentioned low blood pressure, it sparked the idea of low adrenal function or low cortisol production. You might want to do a search for hypoadrenalism on the internet...or check out what has to say. I don't represent this website, I just found the information very interesting. This is all of course if you haven't heard of this and tried this avenue already.

I believe there is something physically wrong with your daughter that the physicians you are seeing should be concerned about. I have been ill for quite a while and found that all the doctors I saw wanted to write me a prescription for symptom control at best and wouldn't look any further than basic blood tests and x-rays. They don't seem overly concerned.

Please write back soon if you get a chance to look into some of these things and to let us know how things are going.

Oh, and also, have you tried a medical doctor in your area who specializes in holistic medicine? There is one in my area who dives deeper into finding out what's wrong and treating illnesses...I find him to be helpful.

: My first message :I have a daughter who is 24 years old. Due to CFS, she had to drop out of college in
: her senior year. She has had CFC since she was 16 and is now in bed 18-20 hours a day.
: She has seen many doctors and specialists. Her basic problem is low blood pressure- hypotension.
: I am concerned about her general health- she gets no exercise and does not eat or drink on a regular
: or sufficient basis. Occasionally, she wil go to a movie or eat out with us. So far she is not depressed,
: according to her psychologist. She has no close friends. She is an excellent writer, but apparently this
: is too dificult. Her only recreation is reading, TV and the internet- looking at research on CFS.
: She loves animals and is a vegetarian and environmentalist at heart.

: It would be nice if she could chat with other young adults with CFS.

: I'd like to hear from parents facing similar problems and hopefully hear about some ideas to
: help us cope and my daughter get better.

: Its puzzling to me that her doctors don't seem overly concerned about her situation
: and health risk cause by her lack of regular exercise and nourishment.

: Bob
