: Hi Jane,

: I have recently gone from taking Paxil (20 mg. daily) to Serzone.

: The transition was very difficult for me. I believe my physician had me wean off of the Paxil way too quickly, but after doing some Internet research, I slowed things down. I am now completely off of Paxil. If you do go off, I hope that your dr. gives your proper instructions for doing so!

: I switched from Paxil to Serzone for the basic reasons you state. While I liked how I felt emotionally on Paxil, I DID NOT appreciate the weight gain and loss of sex drive and response.

: So far, Serzone works pretty well for me. I take 300 mg. total. Some folks take 150 mg. in the AM and 150 mg. in the PM. I take all 300 mg. at night before bedtime.

: At the same time I started on the Serzone, I began the Suzanne Somers eating program/diet. I am happy to say that I've lost about 9 lbs. I don't think I am yet experiencing the full benefits of Serzone because I have only been on it a little less than a month.

: I think it's worth giving it a try if you are not to afraid of weaning off of the Paxil. It isn't easy...

: Good luck, and please let me know if I can answer any questions for you.

: Dee

Hi Dee,

Nice to meet you and thanks for responding to my message. I specifically asked my Dr. if I need to stop taking Paxil and he said no that I could switch immediately. In the past when other meds didn't work I had to wait at least 2 wks. before I could start another but that was quite a few years ago. What symptoms did you initially experience when you went off Paxil? At onepoint in time I tried cutting my dose in half - 10mg instead of 20mg. I started to get very weepy and feeling like I was tumbling down a hill and gaining momentum with every new day. I also felt paranoid and lost my sense of humor.

Again, thanks for replying.

Jane :):)

I have a girl friend who works in a crisis center and they use Serzone, Effexor and Celexa. She said that she's going to get info for me but mentioneed that Celexa had few if no side effects.

While on Paxil did you always feel tired when you came home from work and wanted to do nothing but vegg on weekends? I thought it was my job, vet nurse/tech, with long hours and always on my feet. I'm also going to be 58 in 3/2001. I switched professions 8 Yrs. ago - from exec. secty. - and was always sitting. I used to walk anywhere from 4 miles to 10 miles a day. Now I could care less, I just want to chill out when I get home.
