Just a little encouragement for all you great mothers and fathers sharing your love with your gifts from God. I was handed this letter one day while my daughter was going through her therapies for you see I too have a gift from God. This letter is written by a woman named JoAnne E. I want to give credit where credit is due because this letter really blessed me. The letter reads:
Dear Mom and Dad,

I may not be able to put in words how I feel about you, but I want to let you know how much I appreciate all you do for me.
In the months before I was born, you had dreams of a perfect, precious baby. After my birth, doctors told you about all the things that were wrong with me and about all the problems I would have. Thank you for still thinking of me as your prefect, precious baby. I know I am cherished.
My first doctors gave you a grim view of my future. The told you all the things I would never do and all the things I could never learn. Thank you for not taking them seriously! Because you held fast to hope and decided to tackle the impossible, I have been able to accomplish things no one ever expected.
Thank you for all the sacrifices you have made on my behalf. Because of all the expenses, you have gone without different things...renovations on the outdated kitchen, the trip to Paris, a new winter coat. You decided that the old car will make do for a couple more years. And yet you don't complain. You tell me I'm your priceless treasure and that you're the richest people in the world.
Thank you for all the time and hard work you devote to caring for me and teaching me. It takes months and sometimes years for me to learn things that other kids do naturally. But you keep persevering...even when you're tired, even when I'm uncooperative, even when there are no signs of progress. No one will ever know how hard it is for you, but I know, and God sees the way you give of yourselves so unselfishly.
You are my heroes. You're stronger and more courageous than Hercules and Zena, the Warrior Princess. You not only have wisdom, but insight to find in me all the special qualities no one else sees. You represent me in a society that might otherwise turn away. You are my voice, a persistent advocate in my behalf. You have taken on the world for me.
Please do something else for me. Take care of yourselves and take time to relax. Contrary to previous predictions, I could be around for a long time, and I will continue to need you. Taking care of yourselves is one of the best things you can do for me.
And so, Mom and Dad, for all the things that remain unspoken, but not unnoticed...thank you. The next time you see my radiant smile, just know it's a reflection of the love you bestow so freely. I am richly blessed through you. I Love You
Love, Your Precious Child

JoAnne also writes: The next time you feel discouraged, please remember that you have enriched the life of your child more than you will ever know. And wether you realize it or not, you have even made an impact on our world.

I want you all to hang in there and don't always take the doctors word as law. Only God has the last word in our lives and He is a blessing God. God knows who has the strength to handle our special children and I believe He really think we are special to give us these beautiful children. It is truly a learning experience every day and each new accomplishment we have to get excited and not forget to thank God for them. For you see, in out other children we took these accomplishments for granted and a lot of the things they did passed us by without us even giving notice to them. So now we have a chance to smell the roses as our little flowers bloom.
May God bless each and every one of you.
