: : Hi my name is jenny and I just had an amnio yesterday to determine whether my baby has downs'. My afp came back a little low and that was the cause for the amnio.
: : Well my request is that a parent who has had a downs baby contact me through e-mail please...I'd like to know what the pregnancy was like and what the tell tale signs were..if any!
: : I have 2weeks to wait for my results and I'm trying to keep my mind occupied..I really shouldn't be concerned because Iam 23 and my partner nor I have genetic disorders but I'am quite aware that nature takes its own course and well that frightens me becasue after all anything is possible...
: : I'd appreciate any feedback, thank you very much.

: Dear Jenny,

: Hello Jenny. I read your message and it made me
: cry. Our stories a very much alike. I Just turned
: 24 and my baby is due in december. I was also
: told that I have a low afp. I had a level 2 ultra sound and everything looked great. But i didnt want an amnio. I was scarred it would hurt the baby. So now I have to wait until our little girl is born to know if she is ok. Its killing me.
: I cry all the time and i dont know if i made the right choice. I will pray that your baby will be fine.
: Amy

Hi Jenny and Amy:

I am so afraid too. My Afp came back negative, but in a routine ultrasoud they fpund calcification in the baby's heart. My r. says not to worry since everything else is normal. But I still worry. He scheduled me for a second ultrasound, but he did not specify if this was a level 2 ultrasound.
