I would recom. that you call your local MHMR. They have many different programs for DS adults. Also many school districts initiate special needs children in a vocational program once they reach high school age. I am a therapist and have helped to place DS adults in many different job settings. We first do a comprehensive evaluation to determine each clients functional status, hobbies, physical limitations, medicaid qualifications/restrictions (if they earn to much their medical bennefits are removed/reduced, their likes and dislikes. Once the eval. process is completed we then attempt to place them in a job that will match up with their profile.
