Our eight yr. old daughter is currently in second grade, reading on a second grade level and is just as capable as any other student. The neighborhood programs (HeadStart, local Elementary) have been terrific up until now, but we are really concerned as to the direction things are headed - the classes are to chaotic for concentration, kids are already engaging in sexual behavior(yes, 2nd grade in an upper-middle clas school!!!beware!!!)and cruel behavior is alive and well... we are spending 3-4 hours a night on math and reading and writing to keep her at and above grade level in what we can (even still she still loves school!) .......we are seeing a huge waste of a day for our beautiful baby girl - no focusing, bringing home doodles, getting sent to the principal for being dared to kiss another - help!!! Home school? Is private school an option? What do you do to keep the wolves at bay and a great kid excited about the world? Any one out there hear us??.....
