We have had Joey,33 years old and down syndrome, severe diabetic since Feb. He is my husbands brother. We got joey just before his mother passed away. Help, help! We really have not gotten much support from family. It has been a real struggle with him, not following rules, etc. Sometimes I expect more out of him than I really should, or should I. I feel he can be trained still to follow rules, like no eating in the middle of the night, or asking for a snack first.
We are learning patience with him, it takes him almost 2 hours to eat. It seems like a fight to get to take a shower or even shave.
I would love to hear from someone who has an adult DS.
