My daughter is 8 she has a hard transition from evrything from recess to summer! I could suggest - warn him/her at least three times that the transition is coming , post a board that shows how they transitioned well and let them put the "good" marks up after each transition, make a reward - if they line up twice in a day with only one warning they get X - every year on our daughter's IEP we have minor direction as a goal - each year less warnings, less time to get on task and just remember that is is this off task lack of focus that is most of our child's down's - the more we talk about what is going to happen and what already happened and the more regular the routine is each day, the better success we have. hope this helps....
: I am a Teacher Aide in an Early Childhood classroom. One of our students has Downs . We are having a problem when we are transitioning from one activity to another (ex. moving into line, coming in from recess, going to P.E.) We have tried various techniques, and none seem to work.....He just doesn't want to cooperate. Any ideas? Thanks :)
