Acne board

Hello all,

I have been lurking around this board on and off for the past 4 years. I am now 22 and have suffered from moderate acne (sometimes cystic) since age 18 or so. In this time period, I have been on Differen (w/ Tetracycline), Retin-A (w/ Doxycycline), and Tazorac (w/ Minocycline), in that order. The medicine kept the acne at bay, but I've been off medication for the past two months and BAM, the breakouts came with a vengeance. Also, I eat very healthy (lean meats, low carbs, carrot juice, etc.) and cleaning my diet did not help much. I consulted two different derms and they both recommended Accutane.

I've decided to take the plunge and go for it. Mind you, I am the most meticulous and picky person you will meet, so I literally went back and forth on this decision for a LONG time.

As a thanks for all the wonderful posts I've encountered through the years, I am going to take a detailed log of my progress. Feel free to ask any questions or post any comments.

Current dosage: 40mg/2x day
Brand: Sotret (Isotretinoin)

DAY 1 (July 29)
- Forehead: no visible marks
- Cheeks: one large pimple (in between a whitehead and a cyst?) on right cheekbone, about half the size of an eraser
- Jawline:majority of breakout occurs here near both sides of the face; Red/pink undertones/pigmentation due to past breakouts on both sides
(left side): One large cyst near mouth, two smaller pimples
(right side): Two smaller cysts, two smaller pimples
- Chin: two eraser size pimples forming under the skin; slighly pink in color
- Nose: no visible marks, although blackheads can be seen up-close

- Back: tiny small bumps (not really whiteheads but they're under the skin)
- Chest: one small pimple near collarbone
- Shoulders: 2-3 pimples on each shoulder

- Took first pill this morning, didn't feel anything different
- Second pill an hour ago, felt extremely hot and began sweating; still feel a little heated (not angry, just hot :D)
- No dry lips, no dry skin, no other physical difference

- Currently on a 4 day split routine workout at the gym
- Went today and didn't have any post-effects, will keep this updated
I do have to add, vigorous exercise shouldn't be done while on Accutane, as it can cause your muscles and joints to ache terribly, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I also recall the doctor telling me that you are more prone to injuries as well. I cannot play Volleyball this year because of my treatment. I'm on day 3, no symptoms either.

Good luck!
