Discussions that mention aciphex

Gallbladder board

I am a 48 year old male with chest pains for the 13 months. The first time sent me to the ER to get checked out and had all the testes including an echo, thallium stress and bloodwork, all normal. I was given instructions to follow up with my Family doctor.

I saw him the next week and he gave me a diagnosis of Gerd and started me on Aciphex which has cleared up most of my symptpms except the mild chest pain. I had my annual physical last month and he asked me again about the chest pains and I told him that I still have them fairly often. He found some elevated liver enzymes on my blood work and sent me for an ultrasound on my abdomen. Liver was fine but the found what they called a significant amount of sludge and gravel in my gallbladder. He also refered me to a cardiologist for the chest pains to be safe.

As I was a new patient, the cardiologist had me repeat the tests from the year before, an echo, thallium stress test and bloodwork, all came back normal again. She said she has ruled out my heart as the source of the pain and does not want to do a cath because she feels the risk outweighs the likelyhood of finding anything significant based on two normal cardiac workups in 13 months with no other symptoms. I also have normal to optimal numbers for my cholesterol levels, my blood pressure is controlled but my Tri's are high at 350. I don't smoke nor do I have a history of early onset CAD in my family and I never have pain or symptoms when I walk two miles each day. I am 50 pounds overweight but have lost 30 pounds in the past 4 months. She suggested that the sludge or gravel in my gallbladder may be blocking my bile ducts and causing problems in either my Gallbladder or Pancreas.

Has anyone else experienced mild chest pains with this problem? Does this seem to be a reasonable diagnosis?

Any help would be appreciated.
