Quote from suthrngrace:My 4-year -old son is having his tonsils and adenoids removed in a couple of weeks. Any input on what I should expect? My son has asthma and allergies, so we are used to the ER and breathing treatments, steroids and such. But we have never had a surgical procedure or anything like this before. I am getting nervous. I am trying to decide how to talk with him about what is going to happen, as well. I have read all of the literature from the surgeon; I just wanted a more person outlook on it…. Thanks
Does your child see a pediatric pulmonologist for the asthma? Often when a child with asthma has their tonsils and adenoids out, the physician increases the nebulizer treatments of Albuterol, before and after the operation. Please check with your physician regarding this and make sure the anesthesiologist knows that your child has asthma.
