Allergies board

I have been on Allegra D for a while now off and on, and before whenever I would think it wasn't a "change of season" time of year and go off of it (that one was prescribed mostly for my seasonal allergies), I would end up feeling horrible, but last time that happened (in February), my doctor told me to take it twice daily until July or August. So I have been doing that along with Flonase daily as directed. And for the most part, that has worked well.
However, last week, I started getting the fatigue and headachiness and napping after work, which usually indicates that my allergies are about to hit full force. Sure enough last weekend, I got the stuffiness, headachiness, congestion (so much that I wake up several times during the night when I finally get to sleep because I am so stopped up), my stomach feels all weird because of all the congestion, left ear hurts, and sore throat and coughing. The thing that is so frustrating is that before anytime I was like this it was when I had quit the medication. So I'm not sure if this season is just that bad even on the meds or if the Allegra maybe isn't working for me anymore.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Thanks.

Yes, a common problem with antihistimines and decongestants is that they can "quit working" in some people.
