Quote from ahall:I went to see my doctor today with what I though was the flu. My head is all stocked up, ears just wont pop, runny nose, sore face/head etc. She told me I didn't have the flu, I had allergies, 2 ear infections and fluid behind my ears (from the allergies). She had started me on allegra 10 days ago for vertigo, which she thinks is associated with allergies, but I've never in all my life had allergy symptoms, ever. Why now, and why now Im on the Allegra for 10 days. Does it not work??? Please advise me. Im really miserable. I made an apt to see an allergist on Friday, but I have to be off the allegra for 72 hours before they can do testing.
Hi, ahall. I'm having some of the same symptoms. Vertigo is no fun. I have known allergies and have taken Allegra
for months. I found that unlike Benadryl
, or similar, it can take a few days to notice a difference. Does your face ache behind your cheek bones, and even behind your eyebrows? If so, you might have some sinus related issues. For me, sinus and allergy go hand-in-hand. The allergist is an excellent place to start. He/She will be able to identify what's causing the allergic reaction, and get you on a treatment program that will help you feel "good" again.
I use a simple saline nasal spray (can be purchased at any pharmacy) several times a day - really helps at times. I also use warm, moist heat (like a hot wash cloth) on my face. This also helps me quite a bit. Hang in there.
