Back Problems board

 Hello everyone, I have been reading these boards for about 7 months now and have never posted. I injured my back L5-S1 in august of 03'. I am allergic to kennalog in the epidurals so they did not work, I have a pain doc that has been anything but aggressive about treating my pain ( they all look at you like you are there for some fix when you ask for meds) I hate that. O-well. So here I am 1 year later and have finally undergone a discogram that shows a torn/ruptured L5-S1 pressing on the thecal sac of my nerves. Now the doc says that because have a centraly herniated disc that my only option for success is to fuse it because all of the other procedures that other doctors may trie will only give me temporary relief and I will end up back here for fusion and scar tissue in the end. I have gone ahead on arranged for the fusion, Just waiting on work comp to approve it ( that will not be easy, since it took a lawyer just to get a appt with the surgeon.) My anxiety has gotten so bad due to stress and fear of these procedures and surgery that my doc placed me on ativan x 4 a day at .5mg. Wow what a difference. Anyway, I will keep everyone updated and look forward to meeting some friends here. Sorry about my bad spelling.

Good luck and god bless to all here.

Ps. can anyone tell me how I can place my Hx at the bottom of the screen like so many people here do.

Hello,

I have had Spondylolisthesis, L5-S1 most of my life, I am 51 year old male. Since I am in Pharmaceuticals I spend a lot of time driving. Until recently, I had Chiro care for over 10 years and that seemed to keep my pain under control. But, for the last five months, I have had more pain in lower back, left leg. I have had advice from many Dr's since I call on Dr's for a living. Majority tell me not to fuse that regioon as it has to be mobile. All I know is that I am in pain right now that is why I have been searching on line today for answers to my problem. I have spoken to two others who have had surgery and a year later, they are having problems again. So dam if you do dam if you don't. I would like to follow your case and see how you do.

Good Luck!

Thanks,

ROO
