Anyone know how low it takes for Lipitor to clear out of the bloodstream?
Thanks....any advice?

You can figure that ever day you will approximately HALF the atorvastatin in your bloodsteam as the day before

[QUOTE]Excretion: Atorvastatin and its metabolites are eliminated primarily in bile following
hepatic and/or extra-hepatic metabolism; however, the drug does not appear to undergo enterohepatic recirculation. Mean plasma elimination half-life of atorvastatin in humans is approximately 14 hours, but the half-life of inhibitory activity for HMG-CoA reductase is 20 to 30 hours due to the contribution of active metabolites. Less than 2% of a dose of
atorvastatin is recovered in urine following oral administration
Thus by day 7 you will be down to less than 1%. After day 14 you can expect something in the realm of less of .01%...effectively NONE!

That doesn't mean that the side effects will go away that quickly. It could be day, weeks, months, or NEVER. It takes 6 months for mitochondria to turnover. If the statins have damaged them, it will be a mininum of 6 months.
