High & Low Blood Pressure board

[QUOTE=acp44;3191174][QUOTE=flowergirl2day;3191094]acp, :)

I'd have to disagree with the alcohol consumption NOT affecting the blood pressure. Of course it does. As a matter of fact, according to the new european hypertension treatment guidelines, which I am still in the process of reading, alcohol and a sodium restriction non-compliance are the number one reason for resistant hypertension. Doctors are told to always suspect these two causes in resistant hypertension first and to tactfully question their patients about their lifestyle. The only problem is, very few people will admit their non-compliance.

My dad, who is 80, drinks about a bottle and a half of wine a day, as well as 1 and 1/2 POTS of coffee. His BP runs about 120/75. He's done this as far back as I can remember. Go figure.

I drink 2 to 3 5oz glasses of wine 5 days a week and it does not raise my blood pressure. I take Benicar HCT 40/25 and my average readings are 105/75.
