the periodic, but relatively frequent loose bowels that you have is a symptom of mild IBS...i'm not DIAGNOSING you, just saying that your symptom coincides with it

try something like metamucil...for me, it only made my diarehha worse...i guess i already had enough fiber...

also, when i get diarehha, whether related to IBS or a bug, drinking water (oddly enough) tightens me up...i guess if your systems too dry it can't expell the bacteria, but honestlly, water works better than any fast-acting diarehha med out there...

i don't know if your more into "medicine" or "homeopathic" stuff, but i can suggest some stuff i'm on and have been on that you can check out...

one thing that has really helped my bowels cope with acidic food is enterically coated oil of peppermint...it is designed to NOT breakdown until it reaches your intestines, so it won't cause any tummy troubles....its over the counter...for awhile i could only find it in liquid dropper form, which tasted terrible, but it can be found in vitamin stores in capsule form...and it helps, and it definately won't hurt if you find you dont really "need" it...

as for the diarehha, i was given bentyl about a year ago to ease my problems...i would (and still do) have VERY painful abdominal cramps followed by small stools, loose bowels, or watery diarehha...although the bentyl was actually intended to ease the stomach pain accompanying the BM, it also worked wonderfully to tighten up my bowels...this is a med you take right after you begin symptoms, only as needed

my problems have become so frequent that i now have levbid to keep me under contol, if you get REAL bad somewhere down the road, i recomment this....hope this helps!
