Discussions that mention bentyl

Digestive Disorders board

Nancy-

My GI doc at one time had me taking amitryptline(elavil) for my digestive problems. It's an anti-depressant that was suppose to increase my appetite and help with abdominal cramps. I have also taken Librax, which is a benzodiazepine and antispasmotic combination used to help with abdominal cramps. I've also taken Bentyl which is a combo of an antispasmotic and phenobarbitol. Both are supposed to help with cramps and abdominal pain, usually in someone with irritable bowel syndrome. Neither the librax or the bentyl have helped my pain. My doc believes I have Crohn's disease, and I am going for a small bowel capsule endoscopy to see for sure.

Hope my info may have helped you...I think I have taken every drug imaginable for my bowel issues.
